SJ/AC - Principal's Message

It has been a joy to see the students at both campuses begin the year so positively. Over the last three weeks there has been a number of information sessions, community picnics, welcome morning teas and meetings. While information seems to come in huge waves, it eventually all makes sense as the students get underway with their year.

Our St John’s Kindergarten team welcomed many new families of 3 and 4 year-old children to their programs and all have settled quickly, enjoying a variety of experiences including Music and French. We were pleased to be successful in our application for a $45,000 grant to upgrade the Kindergarten play area which will be completed in the mid Semester break.

The excitement of Cross Country, Athletics and Swim sports is about to get underway for the year at both campuses along with the many and varied camp programs. We are so blessed to have such dedicated staff who value and support the broad range of opportunities camps offer students in a different environment where challenges, team-work and individual successes can be celebrated and shared.

The successful SEMATICS 2019 - 102 team are busy planning for their trip to Florida to represent Australia. If you have not yet booked a table for the Trivia night, please gather some friends and join in. It will be a fun evening and a great chance to get to know other College families. There will be a silent auction with a wide range of items and a fun night will be assured. Click on the link for reservations.

We welcomed a large group of parents to our first GLC Armstrong Creek P&F meeting last week and look forward to planning some great events to support the community and raise some additional funds for the school. Similarly, the St John’s Newtown P&F is rapidly growing with a number of new families joining. Thank you all for your amazing support.

We look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together as a community where Wisdom, Honour and Purpose remain our core values, influencing all we do.

Blessings

Sue Ellis
