Running, Throwing and Jumping into Term 2 Sports

It's been a big few weeks of sporting activities at our GLC Armstrong Creek campus, with the Primary and Secondary Cross Country in Week 2 and Primary and Secondary Athletics Carnivals in Week 4.

The campus was full of cheers and House pride on Friday 26 April as students took part in this year's Cross Country Carnival for both Primary and Secondary students.

During the course of the morning, Primary students ran distances between 500m for the Preps and right up to 3km for the 11 and 12 year old students.

After lunch, it was our Secondary students’ turn to put on their running shoes, completing either a 3km or 4km course. The afternoon also featured a whole Secondary school warm up led by Ms Cunningham, as well as sack races and tug of war competitions for year levels to take part in when they weren’t running.

On Monday 6 May, our Secondary students travelled to Goldsworthy Reserve for their annual Secondary Athletics Carnival, where they participated in a range of track and field events. The third major house sporting event for the year saw students compete in Shot Put, Discus, Long Jump, High Jump, 100m, 400m and 800m Sprints, and Relays, as well as some fun novelty events.

It was then the Primary students in Years 3 - 6's turn to get on to the buses for their Athletics Carnival on Thursday 16 May at Landy Field, where they gave their all across Long Jump, Discus, 100m Sprints, High Jump, 200m Sprints, Hurdles, Shot Put, Shuttle Run and 4 x 100m Sprints.

All three days were action-packed, with plenty of House spirit and pride on display. Well done to all our students for their efforts across these sporting events!
