AC - SEMATICS 102 ABROAD

SEMATICS NEWS

The College’s two SEMATICS teams have begun working on this seasons FLL (FIRST Lego League) Challenge “Cargo Connect”.

Last week the 101 team interviewed James from 'Pack and Send' Geelong to gather information about the problems faced by delivery drivers. After this interview the team were able to identify a key problem of manual handling, which they will aim to solve for their innovation project portion of the challenge.

For the past two weeks (Weeks 9 and 10) the 102 team have been very active. They have delivered workshops to students in 12 schools in China’s Fujian Province to share their knowledge of using gears in Lego Technic models. This was organised after being approached by FIRST Australia and Macquarie University.

They have also interviewed a number of professionals from SA and Qld so they could understand more about how containers and cargo are managed and moved around Australia. The team is currently working on a concept which could potentially increase rail as a means of distributing goods to regional areas.
