We are very pleased to announce the appointment of the new Head of Primary at GLC St John's Newtown.
Mr Luke Symes will be commencing his role on Monday 28 July, 2025. Luke is returning to Australia from Sweden where he has served as the Principal at the Uppsala International School (an IB school) and the International Engelska Skolan in Stockholm. Prior to this he was the Campus Principal at Bacchas Marsh Grammar (Woodlea Campus) from 2013 – 2021.
Luke has significant experience in IB schools, Leadership Development, professional mentoring and coaching and is currently undertaking a Master of Education: Leadership and Management.
Originally from Ballarat, Luke is excited to relocate his family back to Australia and is looking forward to meeting with the GLC St John's Newtown staff, students and community.
Luke shares confidently about his personal faith journey. He is looking forward to working within the Lutheran School sector and sharing God's word with students, staff and families.
Luke is a warm and caring educator who engages positively with students and families, fostering trusting relationships with all.
