Geelong Lutheran College is a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) and as such is part of the mission and ministry of the Church to its community. Geelong Lutheran College is owned and operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia – Victorian District, administered by Lutheran Education Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania (LEVNT) under the authority of the Geelong Lutheran College Association and Council. Members of the Council are appointed or elected by St John’s Lutheran Church (2 members), the GLC Association which represents all Lutheran congregations in the Geelong region (5 members) and the LCA Victorian District (1 member). The Principal and Business Manager are consultants to the Council. The Council delegates the day-to-day running of Geelong Lutheran College to the Principal and staff. The school has an important relationship with the LCA Victorian district and is linked strongly to Lutheran Education Australia (LEA) through LEVNT.
College Year Levels
Geelong Lutheran College has deliberately developed a ‘schools-within-a-school’ structure to effectively establish a separate, yet linked, Primary School (P-6), Middle School (7-9) and Senior School (10-12). Each precinct enjoys its own individual identity and focus, and yet enjoys the advantages of smoother transitions between sub-schools and the availability of greater resources and opportunities. Parents, students and teachers appreciate being part of a community where all members are valued and feel that they are an important part of the school. To continue to care for the individual as they progress along the continuum of learning from Prep to Year 12, the College will develop separate Primary, Middle and Senior secondary sub-schools.
