A new class set of ukuleles arrived this month – to be used in Primary School Music lessons. Here you can see some Grade 3 and 4 students as they learn the chords: F, G, A & C. First attempts were made to play along with The Beatles’ “Let It Be”, and sections of “Click Go The Shears”, “Advance Australia Fair” and “Rock Around The Clock”.  The children who already play guitar have picked up on certain similarities and differences between the two instruments and are quick to move ahead, and for most other students it’s been impressive seeing such enthusiasm and skill development, even at this early stage. This purchase provides our young musicians with more stringed-instrument opportunities, in addition to their already existing lessons with percussion and melody (glockenspiel).
