National Science Week begins on Monday August 16 and runs throughout the week. The theme this year is Food: Different by design. To celebrate, students will be offered tasty insect snacks to try in Science classes, and should watch out for poster displays informing them of alternative ways to obtain the protein, carbohydrate and fats and oils needed for a healthy diet. They should also be on the watch for clips of famous chefs demonstrating alternative ways to prepare food. While eating can be a cultural experience, it is also a chemical experience.
