On Monday 21 August, 44 students from Year 3 to 6 represented our College at the Wakakirri Performance night at GPAC. Wakakirri is Australia’s largest Story-Dance Festival, involving over 20,000 students across every State and Territory each year.

Our group practised after school with Artist-in Residence Alannah Koch during Term two and three as well as at recess times. This extra-curricular event which was made possible thanks to the commitment of GLC Primary staff: Jo Kara Cozens, Ryan Beutler, Jane Hollett and the assistance of Jordan Riddle, Tara Tink, Kelly Rodway and Shannon Baron.

Thanks to the parents and other helpers who assisted with costuming, props, hair and make-up.

The students performed brilliantly on the night telling their story “The Gift within” through dance.

After their fantastic performance, our students were presented with the following awards: Best Minimal use of Sets, Props and Costumes; Best Public Speaking and the Spirit of Wakakirri Award.

As the remaining Victorian performances conclude, we will wait to learn whether we have won any further awards. Watch this space.
