The foyer of the newly completed gymnasium at Geelong Lutheran College was buzzing with activity on Friday 2nd November with the Year 6 Market Day. Primary students, staff and family members browsed the stalls for purchases and participated in games. Some people got their cars washed in the windy and dusty conditions.

The Market Day was the culmination of the “What’s my business?” unit of work which GLC has been trialling along with other schools in the region. This unit of work is a joint ALWS/LEVNT initiative. It was great to have Vicki Gollasch (ALWS), Kim Powell (LEVNT) and Maria Denholm (Good News) who were part of the team who developed the idea of the unit as well as Julian Denholm (LEVNT) attend the day.

The nine businesses which included all 37 Year 6 students collectively raised $1028.20 which will be donated to ALWS with students choosing projects they would like to support. Students also reflected on their learning after the event and wrote letters detailing their thoughts to Vicki Gollasch.
