Year 3/4 Sharing Stories Incursion supported the teaching and learning of an Integrated Studies Topic: Cultural Diversity in Australia.
This hands-on, inquiry based history/humanities program enabled students to work in groups and handle reproduction artefacts from Museum Victoria’s Collection – letters, photo albums, diaries, cassette tapes, tapestries, SMS text messages – objects that have been created by individuals to record their personal migration journeys to Victoria. Students were able to discover a range of different migration stories through investigating these objects and learn how people have shared their migration stories over time. Students also uncovered changes in communications technology and how the process of human communication has evolved.
