Attendance and Absences

Students should not arrive at school before 8.30am or remain on-campus after 3.30pm unless they are in a supervised activity. Students arriving after the school day has commenced, or leaving during the school day, need to be signed in or out at the Reception Desk. Please do not take your child directly to their class or collect them directly from their class.

Please advise any absences, including the reason for the absence, to the College Office by 10am.  If no advice is received by that time, parents will be contacted by text message or phone to confirm their child’s absence.

If telephone contact is made by parents, this needs to be followed up by a notice to the College Office. Year 10 to 12 students should submit an application for their absences to be ‘approved’ provided the reason complies with those outlined in the ‘Senior School Policies and Procedures’ booklet.

In the event that a student must leave the school grounds during school hours, the student must be signed out and collected from the Office, not collected from the classroom .  If and when the student returns (on that same day), he/she must report to the Office before returning to class to be signed in.

Please note that whenever possible, medical/dental appointments should be arranged for outside of class times to avoid interruption of student learning and are best made in advance so that your child is aware. You are also encouraged to make emergency appointments after school hours. On occasions when this is not possible, please advise your child’s teacher via their school diary.

Leave needs to be sought from the Principal where there are planned absences, such as family holidays etc.  Please be aware that there are restrictions on term time holidays in the Senior School as outlined in the ‘Senior School Policies and Procedures’ booklet.

Messages from parents to their Primary School students are only able to be received by the Office until 2pm upon which a note will be placed in the class tub for distribution at the end of the day.

Messages from parents to their Secondary School students are dealt with in the same manner but we are NOT able to guarantee your child will receive the message because students divide into different elective groupings.

Although Secondary Students are not permitted to access their mobile phone during the day, text messages from parents are able to be accessed  at the end of the school day.

Students are only permitted to make phone calls from the College Office in the case of an emergency.
