It is an exciting Term for the team at Extend OSHC with all activities for students focused around a country -with art, craft, cooking, games and sport based on the country’s culture and traditions.
During the first week, the students explored Japan and tried their hand at making sushi, folding origami and made their own Koi Fish kites. Next was India, where students painted with spices, drew henna designs, started work on a huge Rangoli mat and even enjoyed making samosas. Students moulded their own Diya’s (candle lanterns used in the Festival of Light, Diwali), practised yoga and used animal positions to tell stories. Week 3 was all about England – soccer, British Bulldog, cricket and scone making. Week 4 is Spain which means tapas, Picasso and Dali, piñata making and popular Spanish children’s games.
The Extend mascot, Gilbert the Gecko paid a visit to the students and treated them to a special dance performance which had the students cheering and laughing!
