Formal transition programs are provided for new students entering Prep or Year 7 in the year preceding their enrolment.
An individualised program applies for students entering at other year levels or during the school year.
Towards the end of each year, our new Prep students undertake a Pre-Prep Transition program. This allows new students and their parents to familiarise themselves with Geelong Lutheran College. This transition program takes place over three sessions that prove to be invaluable in ensuring that new students have a smooth start to their first year at school. The first session involves parents and students, while the last two sessions are for students to experience school by themselves.
Transition for Year 7 Students
Towards the end of each year, Year 7 students undertake a Transition program. This usually takes place over a whole day and proves to be invaluable in ensuring that students have a smooth start to their first year of secondary school.
Transition for New Students in Other Grades
Class teachers and coordinators arrange for buddies to be assigned to new students and for them to be oriented into the school.
